London university to get rid of 100 academic jobs

-

A west London university is planning to close 19 courses with 100 academics losing their jobs.

Roehampton University is getting rid of all undergraduate degrees in classics, philosophy, drama, creative writing and photography, as well as its master’s degree in history, with no new students to be taken on, reported The Times.

The university told staff about the cuts last week, and were warned that the 100 staff to be made redundant would have to reapply for jobs at the university.

The news comes after a previous round of voluntary redundancies.
