‘Drunk’ climber’s pale clothing guided rescuers

-

Two “drunk” men were rescued off Cader Idris in Snowdonia after one collapsed and one fell down a gully.

Search teams received reports a man in his 20s was “unconscious” after the rest of the party of eight went to raise the alarm. The group, described as “potentially intoxicated”, said another man was missing.

“We found the first man. The search for his companion continued,” Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said.

Some 17 volunteers searched for six hours before spotting him. He was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital.

Graham O’hanlon said: “But for the light colour of his tracksuit, we may not have spotted him in time.”
