Maxwell sent to Florida prison

- By Antonia Cundy

GHISLAINE MAXWELL has been sent to a low-security prison in Florida to serve her 20-year sentence for helping Jeffrey Epstein abuse underage girls.

Maxwell, 60, was transferred to the jail in Tallahassee despite her lawyers’ requests that she be sent to a prison in Danbury in Connecticut, another lowsecurity federal institution known as “Club Fed” for its favourable conditions, the Daily Mail reported. Judge Alison Nathan, who presided over Max- well’s New York trial, had supported the lawyers’ suggestion, recommending to the US prison service during sentencing that Maxwell be sent to Danbury.

It is not clear why the law enforcement agency went against the judge’s guidance.

Maxwell had repeatedly complained about the conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn. Her lawyers have said they will appeal against her conviction and sentence.
