Battersbee family takes battle to Supreme Court
The family of Archie Battersbee will take their fight to continue his treatment to the Supreme Court.
The 12-year-old was found unconscious with a ligature around his neck on April 7. He was left in a comatose state after suffering brain damage.
A High Court judge decided that doctors could lawfully stop treating him, and Court of Appeal judges have now upheld the ruling, blocking the family from making an application to the United Nations.
His parents will now apply to the Supreme Court to appeal that decision. They have also been given the chance to make an application to the European Court of Human Rights.
