Play at the European Youth Championsh­ips in Veldhoven has finished, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspond­ent.

In the Under 21 event, England finished eighth, thereby qualifying for the World Championsh­ips. The team was: Imogen La Chapelle and Henry Rose, Andy Cope and Thomas Gardner, Liam Fegarty and Jamie Fegarty, with non-playing captain, Michael Byrne. The medal winners were Israel (gold), France (silver) and Denmark (bronze).

In the Under 26 Women’s event, which had already finished, England also qualified for the World Championsh­ip. The team was: Kim Hudson and Dido Coley, Lily Kearney and Raphaela Sinclair, Bethany Madden and Megan Jones, with NPC, Claire Robinson.

In the Under 26 Open event, none of the home countries finished in the top half, with England being in the best position in 13th place.
