Crossing Continents Radio 4, 11am

The foreign affairs series returns with an uplifting report on how tigers are making a comeback in Nepal. It begins with an astonishing clip recalling the Queen’s 1963 official visit to the country, when her official welcome included the shooting of a tiger (and a rhino) on a royal elephant hunt. How the times have, thankfully, changed. Now, after tough new measures, Nepal is on track to be the only country to double its tiger population in the past decade. Rebecca Henschke travels to Bardiya National Park in the foothills of the Himalaya, to find out what’s going on behind the scenes of this conservation success.

Your Place or Mine Radio 4, 11pm

Shaun Keaveny’s “travel show that’s going nowhere” podcast was an instant hit when it launched on BBC Sounds in April. Now it gets a Radio 4 outing, its schtick being celebrity guests trying (and failing) to convince the home loving Keaveny (“even travelling to the airport brings me out in hives”) to take a trip to their favourite world destination. Tonight, comedian Sarah Kendall attempts to lure him to her hometown of Newcastle, Australia, where beautiful beaches and an easygoing attitude to everyday life await. Upcoming guests include Daliso Chaponda (Malawi), Guy Garvey (New York) and Sikisa (Barbados).
