My child is being coached for cross-sex hormones in adult clinics
Tracy’s daughter is only 17, but she claims the Tavistock is coaching her for an imminent move to adult clinics, where cross-sex hormones beckon.
“It feels a bit like a steam train that is out of control and I’m trying to put the brakes on it,” Tracy told The Telegraph. “They’re treating her like an adult when she’s still a minor.
“She may grow up and she may be satisfied with her transition, but there are so many contributing factors and these didn’t appear before adolescence.
“It was like a bolt out of the blue, after a huge amount of time immersing herself in online forums.”
Tracy’s daughter, who is autistic, joined the Tavistock waiting list aged 14 after a referral from her GP, and following a three-year waiting list she started treatment earlier this year.
“Child and adolescent mental health services, which she had seen for four years, didn’t touch gender with a barge pole and left it to the Tavistock.
“There has been no explorative process at all. Medical transitioning seemed to be treated as normal and everyday during our appointments. They are now just preparing her for what she’ll meet in the adult clinic.”
