Wild strawberries
SIR – Oliver Barratt’s letter (July 26) and the painting of wild strawberries take me back to the 1940s and Nathia Gali, a Himalayan hill station in what is now Pakistan.
We children used to pick basketfuls of strawberries in the woods for Mum to give us with cream and sugar, or to make delicious jam from them.
The memories have stirred me to grow British varieties in our Suffolk garden and I find them just as delicious.
