Princess Charlotte sent a good luck message to her footballing heroines, and told England’s Lionesses she was hoping for a win at last night’s Euro 2022 final.

The Princess, who is seven, joined her father, the Duke of Cambridge, for a rare social media message in their honour yesterday morning.

“We both want to wish the Lionesses the best of luck tonight,” said Duke of Cambridge.

“You’ve done amazingly well in the competition and we’re rooting for you all the way.”

His daughter added: “Good luck, I hope you win! Bye.”

The Duke, who is president of the FA, attended the final to cheer the women’s team on in person.

He has previously disclosed that his daughter is a keen goalkeeper, with the sporty Cambridge family all watching and playing the sport.

The Duke had his arm around her for the short film, shot in a garden, with her confident delivery immediately praised by fans.

She has previously joined her parents for a small number of royal engagements, and was one of the stars of the show during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Online, she joined in a handful of videos including clapping for the NHS in lockdown.

She is thought to be a fan of football, and joined the Duke, Duchess and Prince George to watch Norwich City vs Aston Villa in May 2020.

The Cambridges have been on holiday during this year’s tournament. They are said to have been watching matches at home.

The family have been keen to boost sport for all in their public engagements, with the Duchess being a particular advocate for children playing.
