SIR – It’s not just bagpipes about which second-home owners complain (report, August 1).

Here, one woman complained that my bantams were waking her husband at 5am. She insisted that he had read that they only begin crowing when they were let out. That must be the time I let them out, I replied. The conversation didn’t get any further. Graham White
