A matter of time

This image released by Nasa yesterday shows the “Cartwheel” galaxy, which is made up of a bright inner ring and a colourful outer ring, and its companion galaxies. It was formed after a high-speed collision 400 million years ago. The snapshot, taken by Webbs Near-infrared Camera (NIRCAM) and Mid-infrared Instrument (MIRI), goes some way to explain what happened in space in the past and what may happen in the future, say scientists.
