Questions for suppliers over Pret allergy death
A coroner conducting an inquest into the death of a woman who died after eating a Pret a Manger vegan sandwich has asked for information about its content from the chain’s suppliers.
Celia Marsh, 42, a dental nurse from Melksham, Wilts, died at Royal United Hospital in Bath in December 2017 after an allergic reaction to a “superveg rainbow flatbread”. The yogurt dressing was labelled vegan but contained traces of dairy protein.
At a pre-inquest review Maria Voisin, the Avon and Somerset coroner, heard there was a “mismatch” between information held by Coyo, an Australia-based coconut yoghurt firm, and Planet Coconut, its UK distributor.
