Teenager killed in accident at closed fairground site
A TEENAGE boy was found dead yesterday at a travelling funfair just hours before it was due to open to the public.
Police and ambulance crews were called to a “serious incident” at Pencester Gardens, Dover, at about 7.40am but the boy was declared dead at the scene.
Residents claimed the boy had accessed the site with a group of friends when he fell off a ride.
The Health and Safety Executive has launched its own investigation into the incident.
The park was hosting the Family Funfair run by Kent-based Forrest Amusements, which was due to open at midday yesterday. The fair remained closed throughout the afternoon.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We immediately dispatched a number of clinical resources to the scene, including our hazardous area response team and critical care paramedics, however, sadly, a teenage boy was pronounced as deceased at the scene.”
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers attended, along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesman for Forrest Amusements declined to comment.
