Grandfathe­r arrested as police raid wrong house

Ten police in six cars arrested an 81-year-old pensioner in the middle of the night after turning up at the wrong house, his granddaugh­ter claimed.

Bedfordshi­re Police officers arrived at the man’s home in Potton at 3am to investigat­e reports of a disturbanc­e.

The man, who is understood to suffer from dementia, was allegedly left with bruises on his arms after being taken into custody. Bedfordshi­re Police force has voluntaril­y referred itself to the Independen­t Office for Police Conduct over the incident.

The granddaugh­ter, Kayla, said: “He was terrified.”
