Sensible speed limits

SIR – I sincerely hope that Liz Truss’s willingness to consider scrapping motorway speed limits (report, September 2) isn’t typical of her thinking.

Germany manages without speed limits because the driving standards there are vastly superior to those in Britain. Our motorways are scenes of appallingly dangerous and inconsiderate behaviour.
