Johnson might go for a Red Wall seat ‘to repay voters’
BORIS JOHNSON may make a comeback as a Red Wall Conservative MP at the next general election, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.
Advisers to the former prime minister are looking at whether he can move to a northern constituency once MPS start to move seats during a party shake-up.
There is an acceptance among senior Tory strategists that Mr Johnson could lose his seat in Uxbridge and West Ruislip to the Labour party.
One idea is to find a seat in the North to allow Mr Johnson rebuild his base, and for him personally to repay the support of former Labour supporters who voted Tory for the first time in 2019.
One friend said: “He might go for a northern [seat]. He feels an obligation to the Red Wall voters.”
