French magazine ‘paid cartoonist for fake job’
Le Canard Enchaîné, France’s feared investigative magazine, is facing a taste of its own medicine over allegations it paid the lover of its star cartoonist €3million (£2.6 million) for a fake job.
Paris prosecutors have launched an investigation into “embezzlement” at the weekly, which has felled scores of politicians and public figures, after one of its own reporters accused Alvaro Escaro, 94, a cartoonist, of funnelling cash to his partner.
