Swedish election places Right-wing centre stage
The anti-immigration Sweden Democrats is expected to become the country’s second largest party after elections that the prime minister said were “too close to call”.
The party has its roots in the white nationalist movement but is now poised to take an influential role in a new Right-wing governing coalition after a vote dominated by fears over gang shootings and immigration.
“We are now the second biggest party in Sweden and it looks like it is going to stay that way,” said Jimmie Akesson, the leader.
