Sound of silence TFL bans busking for Queen’s funeral
Transport for London (TFL) is facing a backlash after it suspended busking during the mourning period for the late Elizabeth II.
Some 39 busking pitches across the network will fall silent until Tuesday, the day after the late Queen’s state funeral.
Transport bosses have been urged to rethink the “miserable, mean” decision amid concerns it could affect the income of the professional musicians who usually entertain commuters.
The Musicians’ Union said in an open letter TFL should “only suspend pitches that are at risk of over-crowding”.
