For whom the bell tolls

The Lutine Bell was yesterday rung once to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and twice to celebrate the accession of King Charles III. The bell was recovered in 1857 from the shipwreck HMS Lutine and now hangs in the atrium of the underwriting room at Lloyd’s of London. It is traditionally rung once for sad news and twice for good.
