Chef sacked for reusing gravy

A head chef at an awardwinning gastropub was fired after dipping his fingers into sauces and reusing gravy, an employment tribunal heard.

Max Murphy, 53, was sacked from the Malt Shovel in Barston, West Midlands, after the owners discovered his food hygiene practices included putting wet fish next to desserts and vegan food next to raw chicken.

The Birmingham tribunal ruled his dismissal was fair.
