Senior NCO guilty of sexual assault on soldier

A drunken staff sergeant who groped a young female soldier on a night out has been convicted of sexual assault.

Staff Sergeant Adam Porter, 42, told the shocked woman “it feels nice doesn’t it” as he pinched her buttock.

Moments earlier the NCO, who has served in the Army for 24 years, had spotted the junior soldier wearing “a very revealing dress’ and said “you’re going to get me into trouble”.

Staff Sgt Porter, of the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, denied a single charge of sexual assault, but was convicted after a two-day trial. Bulford Military Court, Wilts, heard that the incident took place at a pub as soldiers enjoyed a first post-covid celebration.
