The 2001-2002 Bridge Great Britain Gold Cup has progressed to the quarter-final stage, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspond­ent.

In the round of 16, only four of the teams that had been seeded to reach the quarter-finals actually did so. The teams captained by Brian Senior, Tim Leslie, Andrew Black and Alexander Allfrey were the seeded teams safely through. The seeded teams that did not make it were Brian Holder’s team, which lost to Neil Rosen’s Kent-based team, Tommy Garvey’s team, which lost to Jeremy Dhondy’s London-based team, David Mossop’s team, which lost to Simon Gillis’ London-based team, and Frances Hinden’s team, which lost to Mike Ash’s Edinburghb­ased team.

Entries for the 2022-2023 Gold Cup are now open, with a closing date of Oct 3, 2022.
