Physios shape up for strikes over NHS offer

Physiotherapy staff will vote on strike action for the first time in history after rejecting the NHS pay award.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) said almost 80 per cent of those voting in England said they were prepared to take industrial action. In Wales, it was 83 per cent.

Alex Mackenzie, CSP council chairman, said the recent pay award was less than half the current rate of inflation for most staff.

Physiotherapy staff are the latest healthcare personnel to consider industrial action over this year’s NHS pay award. In July, the Royal College of Nursing said it would consult members over a 3 per cent pay offer.
