Sewing magazine’s readers getting the needle at pronouns

- By Daily Telegraph Reporter

A POPULAR monthly sewing magazine has infuriated loyal readers after a woke makeover saw contributors stating their pronouns.

In the latest issue of Simply Sewing, stitcher Preya Broom shows readers how to make a 1950s-inspired shirt dress, with her name and pronouns – she/her – at the top of the article.

She said: “I think it’s great that Simply Sewing magazine has started using pronouns. It’s such a simple thing to do but it’s a big part of being an LGBTQ+ ally.”

But some of the publication’s 25,000 readers are not so sure.

On an online discussion site one admitted she found the use of pronouns “irritating” and another said: “I truly think a lot of folk mindlessly add pronouns as they think it’s just the done thing. They don’t realise how stupid they look.”
