Students confused by outdated online lectures
Students are being taught with recordings of lectures from previous years, a review of online learning by the university watchdog has found.
The Office for Students heard that the reuse of online lectures was causing confusion because out-of-date assessment deadlines were referred to and the incorrect day of the week was cited in the recordings.
Students also said watching a one-hour lecture online often took hours owing to the need for breaks and problems with motivation working at home. The Office for Students will tell universities today that they must ensure online lectures are “up to date” and “good quality”.
