Standing with Ukraine

-

SIR – I recently had the privilege of visiting Chernihiv, in northern Ukraine, with a very dear friend, who is a native of that city.

The stoicism and resilience of the people there are simply astounding. Every day they are subject to air-raid sirens, power cuts and a night-time blackout and curfew, as well as the ever present threat of missiles and drones.

Despite these hardships, the people I met were cheerful, welcoming and determined to see their country emerge victorious.

The West must continue to help the Ukrainians, both in the military and humanitarian fields. They are literally standing in the front line against tyranny and aggression, the like of which we thought we had seen the end of in Europe. They deserve all the help we can give.
