Officer who stole £1,500 from station safe jailed

-

A Met officer who stole £1,500 from a police station safe to settle his credit debt has been jailed for 10 months.

Bradley Francis, 35, was caught on CCTV removing the cash from the safe and placing it under a fleece at Stoke Newington Police Station in north London on May 12.

John Greany, defending, said: “This was a stupid and desperate act by an officer who until then was a good one.”

Francis, who has resigned from the force, was jailed at Southwark Crown Court yesterday for 10 months and given three months to pay back the £1,500.
