Power to Ukraine
SIR – It is clear that the destruction of Ukraine’s power infrastructure remains a key element of Russia’s tactics (“Kyiv residents told to evacuate as attacks shut down power,” report, November 7).
This is unlikely to change and, given that repairs cannot be carried out quickly or easily, the provision of large mobile generators that are difficult to target should be prioritised to reduce outages in the short term.
In the longer term, the aim should be to help Ukraine improve its air-defence systems, but for now localised and portable power generation can provide a stop-gap solution.
