Goodbye to the barber

SIR – I have been using clippers to cut my own hair for the past 44 years (Letters, November 4). Prior to that, I went to an upmarket barber in Manchester.

However, as I began losing my hair my time in the chair became shorter and shorter. I knew I was wasting my money when I sat down one day as Eric Clapton came on the radio singing Lay Down Sally and the barber finished before Clapton did.

It’s been clippers ever since.
