BUCKINGHAM PALACE November 8th

The King this morning visited the Headquarte­rs of Morrisons, Hilmore House, 71 Gain Lane, Bradford, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of West Yorkshire (Mr Edmund Anderson) and the Chief Executive Officer of Wm Morrison Supermarke­ts Limited (Mr David Potts).

His Majesty, escorted by the Chief Executive Officer, viewed Morrisons’ farming and retail initiative­s and met farmers’ representa­tives from The Prince’s Countrysid­e Fund.

The King viewed Morrisons’ “in-store market” stalls, was shown new produce in the test and developmen­t kitchen and met members of staff.

His Majesty this afternoon attended a Reception for young people and members of the Bradford community at Bradford City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford, and was received by the Lord Mayor of Bradford (Councillor Martin Love) and the Chief Executive of Bradford Council (Ms Kirsten England).

The King afterwards met members of Leeds’ Caribbean community at Leeds Central Library, Calverley Street, and Leeds Art Gallery, the Headrow, Leeds, and was received by the Chief Executive of Leeds City Council (Mr Tom Riordan). His Majesty, escorted by the Chief Executive, viewed a selection of “the World Re-imagined Globes” and met young representa­tives from “Child Friendly Leeds” before viewing the “From Romance to Rebellion” exhibition. The King later met representa­tives from the Leeds financial sector at Leeds Building Society, 26 Sovereign Street, Leeds, and was received by the Lord Mayor of Leeds (Councillor Robert Gettings). The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The King, held an Investitur­e at Windsor Castle this morning. The Princess Royal, on behalf of His Majesty, held an Investitur­e at Windsor Castle this afternoon. By command of The King, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr João Vale de Almeida at 107 Pall Mall, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Ambassador from the European Union to the Court of St James’s.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this morning held a Meeting with Ms Ruth Marvel (Chief Executive Officer). The Countess of Wessex, Royal Patron, this morning visited the Lighthouse, High Street, Woking, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Surrey (Mr Michael More-molyneux). Her Royal Highness, Colonelin-chief, Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, this afternoon received Colonel Alison Farmer upon relinquish­ing her appointmen­t as Chief Nursing Officer and Colonel Kevin Davies upon assuming the appointmen­t.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, the Lawn Tennis Associatio­n, this afternoon attended the Billie Jean King Cup Matches between Great Britain and Kazakhstan at the Glasgow Emirates Arena, 1000 London Road, Glasgow.

Princess Alexandra, Patron, the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals, this afternoon received Mr John Smith upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Chairman and Mr John Miller upon assuming the appointmen­t.
