Chilean police find body of British astronomer
A British astronomer who went missing in Chile on a research trip has been found dead.
Thomas Marsh’s body was discovered during a search of a vast area surrounding the Silla Observatory where he was conducting a project for the University of Warwick.
“After an intense search by a multidisciplinary team, police officers found the lifeless body of an astronomer missing since Sept16,” the police unit in the northern region of Coquimbo said on Twitter.
The authorities did not mention a cause of death.
The observatory is located on the southern edge of the Atacama Desert, about 375 miles from Santiago.
