Murder inquiry following pub row that left two dead
DETECTIVES have launched a double murder investigation after two men died and a third was seriously injured in the early hours of yesterday.
The victims were found with stab wounds after police were called to reports of a man being struck by a vehicle in a residential street at 1.18am.
Two were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third was taken to hospital where he remained in a serious but stable condition.
Locals believed they had been chased by a man in a car after a row in a pub in Houghton Regis, Beds.
One said: “I have heard it was over a girl. Two people have lost their lives. I can’t believe it.” Another added: “Something happened at the pub. There seems to have been a chase. I heard a lot of noise at about a quarter past one. I thought it was a party next door.”
Bedfordshire Police said an investigation had been launched.
The victims have yet to be formally identified, but specially trained officers are supporting family members.
Temporary Det Supt Carl Foster, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “This was a horrific incident which has resulted in two young men losing their lives and a third suffering very serious injuries.”
