Pensioner avoids jail after plant pot battle

A pensioner who blocked a shared driveway with plants during a 10-year feud with her neighbour has been ordered to pay £30,000.

Yvonne Rogers, 72, a retired taxi driver, was sued by grandmother Janice Wright after creating a garden on her side of the drive between their homes in Portchester, Hampshire.

After 10 years of fighting, Ms Rogers has lost and faces a £30,000 legal bill as well as a suspended jail term after she ignored a court order to remove her potted plants.

Ms Rogers’ barrister said she had already removed the potted plants and would now cut back the bushes. He said she also plans to move away.
