FA accuses Toney of breaking betting rules
Ivan Toney was last night facing a lengthy ban after being charged with 232 breaches of Football Association betting rules. The Brentford striker, who last week missed out on selection for England’s World Cup squad despite strong scoring form for his club, is accused of placing dozens of bets over a period of nearly four years between February 2017 and January 2021. He has been given until next Thursday to respond to a charge that could result in a ban lasting several months.
