Virgin ticket seller loses ‘cash for upgrades’ case

- By Daily Telegraph Reporter

A VIRGIN Atlantic ticket officer took £1,000 to do a seat upgrade but was foiled when a passenger asked for a receipt, a tribunal heard.

Karin Forshaw was handed the cash in an envelope by a passenger to secure a first-class seat on a flight from London to New York.

However, when the passenger’s personal assistant later called the airline to ask for a receipt for the payment,

Ms Forshaw first claimed no cash changed hands, then later said that the money had gone missing. She was subsequently sacked for stealing the £1,000.

Ms Forshaw launched legal proceedings against Virgin in 2017, taking the airline to an employment tribunal where she claimed wrongful dismissal and disability discrimination.

Her latest appeal has been dismissed with a judge ruling that her case was “not convincing”.
