Rescued man dies after fishing boat capsizes

A man has died after being pulled from the water when a fishing boat capsized.

A rescue operation was launched at about 4.30pm on Saturday near Port William harbour, Newton Stuart, on the west coast of Scotland.

The Coastguard, along with rescuers from the RNLI, reached the man but he later died in hospital.

Police Scotland said: “We were made aware of a boat that got into difficulty. A man was taken to Galloway Community Hospital where he died a short time later. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstan­ces.”
