Driver ‘flipped car with child sitting on lap’

A suspected drunk driver is believed to have had a child sitting on his lap when he crashed and rolled his BMW, according to police.

Officers were called to the accident in Brandon, Suffolk, on Saturday night where the car had struck a parked Mercedes.

The driver and the girl were treated by paramedics and taken to hospital but did not suffer serious injuries.

Officers said the girl was held in by the seat belt.

The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and child neglect.
