Hancock snubbed dyslexia charity event for TV show
MATT HANCOCK missed a dyslexia charity event because he was in the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! jungle.
The former health secretary had agreed to address the British Dyslexia Association’s 50th anniversary event at the House of Lords as a guest speaker last Wednesday. But he was otherwise engaged in the Australian jungle, leaving his colleague to fill in for him.
Mr Hancock sought to defend his widely criticised decision to enter the jungle by saying that as a dyslexia sufferer, he could “raise the profile of my dyslexia campaign” on the ITV show.
Tom Hunt, the MP for Ipswich, said: “Fellow dyslexic and Suffolk colleague Matt Hancock was unable to fulfil his commitment to be the guest speaker at the 50th anniversary of the British Dyslexia Association so I filled in yesterday.”
