World Cup hypocrisy

SIR – With the World Cup now under way, I do think the message to Qatar would have been more powerful if all these woke footballers had boycotted the competition. Or am I being naive? Ben White

SIR – If Gary Lineker and his fellow presenters are so concerned about human rights in Qatar and the environmental impact of the World Cup, perhaps they should not be holding their debate about it in Qatar. The BBC coverage of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was anchored from Salford. Why didn’t it do the same this time? Simon Malcolm
