Spy couple suspects arrested after helicopter raid

ELITE Swedish police officers swarmed down ropes from Blackhawk helicopter­s yesterday to arrest an elderly couple suspected of spying for Russia.

The aircraft were spotted hovering over a quiet residentia­l area in the outskirts of Stockholm in a pre-dawn raid on the pair’s property.

The couple, believed to be in their 60s, were suspected of being Russian spies while running a lucrative import and export business.

Prosecutor­s accused one of the suspects of “gross illegal intelligen­ce activities” against Sweden and a second unnamed country for about 10 years.

They have reportedly lived in Sweden since the late 1990s A neighbour said: “They are just like anybody else.”

A third person was also held for questionin­g.
