Spy couple suspects arrested after helicopter raid
ELITE Swedish police officers swarmed down ropes from Blackhawk helicopters yesterday to arrest an elderly couple suspected of spying for Russia.
The aircraft were spotted hovering over a quiet residential area in the outskirts of Stockholm in a pre-dawn raid on the pair’s property.
The couple, believed to be in their 60s, were suspected of being Russian spies while running a lucrative import and export business.
Prosecutors accused one of the suspects of “gross illegal intelligence activities” against Sweden and a second unnamed country for about 10 years.
They have reportedly lived in Sweden since the late 1990s A neighbour said: “They are just like anybody else.”
A third person was also held for questioning.
