Fifa’s failings

-

sir – Much of the criticism of Fifa and the World Cup organisation could have been avoided if there had been adequate warning of the intended sanctions (report, November 22). Then many participating countries could have agreed to wear rainbow armbands, which would have rendered Fifa’s yellow card threat meaningless.

Similarly, many people would have opted not to attend if they had been given adequate warning that beer would not be available in stadiums. It is all indicative of the cynical approach of an organisation that is out of touch with the football community it is supposed to be representing.
