BUCKINGHAM PALACE November 24th
Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, the Baroness Benjamin, Professor Margaret Macmillan, Sir David Adjaye, Sir Paul Nurse and Dr Venkatraman Ramakrishnan were received by The King at St James’s Palace this morning when His Majesty invested them with the Insignia of Members of the Order of Merit.
The Lord Janvrin, Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit, was in attendance.
Afterwards His Majesty attended a Service in the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace for Members of the Order of Merit and this afternoon gave a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace for Members of the Order.
The following had the honour of being invited: the Lord and Lady Foster of Thames Bank, Professor Sir Roger and Lady Penrose, Sir Thomas and Lady Stoppard, the Lord Rothschild, Sir David Attenborough and Miss Susan Attenborough, the Right Reverend the Lord and the Lady Eames, the Lord Rees of Ludlow, Sir Timothy and Lady Berners-lee, the Rt Hon Jean Chrétien and Mrs France Chrétien-desmarais, Mr Neil Macgregor, the Hon John and Mrs Howard, Mr David Hockney and Mr Jean-pierre Gonçalves de Lima, Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub and Miss Lisa Yacoub, Professor Dame Ann Dowling and Dr Thomas Hynes, the Lord and the Lady Darzi of Denham, Sir David and Lady Adjaye, Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu and Mrs Elaine Unegbu, the Baroness Benjamin and Mr Keith Taylor, Professor Margaret Macmillan and Mr David Macmillan, Sir Paul Nurse and Professor Emily Nurse, Dr Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and Ms Vera Roseberry, and the Lord Janvrin (Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit) and the Lady Janvrin.
The Governor of South Australia (Her Excellency the Hon Frances Adamson) was received later by The King.
Mr R. Bunten was also received by His Majesty.
The Queen Consort this morning visited Barnardo’s Bow Nursery, 95 Bromley High Street, Bow, London E3, and was received by Colonel Jane Davis (Vice Lord-lieutenant of Greater London).
The Lord Parker of Minsmere (Lord Chamberlain) was present at Stansted Airport, London, this evening. upon the Departure of The President of the Republic of South Africa and bade farewell to His Excellency on behalf of His Majesty upon the conclusion to the State Visit to The King and The Queen Consort.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall this afternoon visited Newquay Orchard, Yeoman Way, Newquay, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).
ST JAMES’S PALACE November 24th
The Earl of Wessex, Honorary Air Commodore, this afternoon visited Royal Air Force Waddington and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Lincolnshire (Mr Toby Dennis).
The Countess of Wessex this morning visited Monkey Valley, London Zoo, Regent’s Park, London NW1, and was received by Dr Sheila Gewolb (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Transform Housing and Support, this evening attended a Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Epsom, to celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Surrey (Mr Michael Moremolyneux).
ST JAMES’S PALACE November 24th
The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning arrived at Royal Air Force Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, from the Falkland Islands.
The Hon Mrs Louloudis and Mr Charles Davies were in attendance. Her Royal Highness, accompanied by Admiral Laurence, afterwards met the Bearer Party and C17 Crew from the flight which brought the Coffin bearing The late Queen from Edinburgh to Royal Air Force Northolt on 13th September.
The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended the Association of Royal Yachtsmen’s Biennial Dinner at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, 60 Knightsbridge, London SW1.
KENSINGTON PALACE November 24th
The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust, today attended the Nuffield Farming Conference at Cardiff City Hall, King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of South Glamorgan (Mrs Morfudd Meredith).
The Duchess of Gloucester, Chief Patron, Hope for Youth Northern Ireland, in celebration of their Fiftieth Anniversary, this evening attended the Charity Swim between the House of Lords and the House of Commons, followed by a Dinner at Porchester Hall, Queensway, London W2.
