BUCKINGHAM PALACE December 8th

The King this morning visited King’s House, 242 Pentonvill­e Road, London N1, met volunteers and beneficiar­ies of local Christian community initiative­s and was received by Colonel Jane Davis (Vice Lord-lieutenant of Greater London). His Majesty was joined by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of London and the Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London, before meeting representa­tives from the charity, Open Doors, and officially opening King’s House. The King, accompanie­d by the Archbishop of Canterbury, afterwards attended an Advent Service with the diverse Christian communitie­s of King’s Cross at the Ethiopian Christian Fellowship Church, 178 King’s Cross Road, London WC1, and was received by the Reverend Dr Getachew Zergaw (Lead Pastor). His Excellency Mr Eitvydas Bajarunas was received in audience by The King this afternoon and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecesso­r and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Lithuania to the Court of St James’s. Mrs Giedre Zickyte was also received by His Majesty. His Excellency Mr Vikram Doraiswami was received in audience by The King and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecesso­r and his own Letters of Commission as High Commission­er for the Republic of India in London. Mrs Doraiswami was also received by His Majesty. Sir Philip Barton (Permanent Under-secretary of State for Foreign, Commonweal­th and Developmen­t Affairs) was present.

ST JAMES’S PALACE December 8th

The Earl of Wessex, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Internatio­nal Award, this afternoon held a World Fellowship Luncheon at Windsor Castle. His Royal Highness, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Internatio­nal Award, this evening held a Dinner at Windsor Castle for the World Fellowship’s Thirty Fifth Anniversar­y. The Countess of Wessex, Patron, the Guide Dogs for the Blind Associatio­n, this evening attended a Christmas Carol Service in St Paul’s Cathedral, London EC4.

The Princess Royal, President, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, this evening attended a Commission­ers’ Dinner at Fishmonger­s’ Hall, London Bridge, London EC4.

KENSINGTON PALACE December 8th

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Heritage of London Trust, this morning visited Queen Mary’s Hospital for the East End Arch, Chopwell Close, London E15, and was received by Mr Kim Bromley-derry (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
