Elderly woman dies after high street attack

A murder investigation has been launched after an elderly woman died from head injuries in the Cotswolds.

Police who were called to High Street in Chipping Campden at around 12.30am yesterday found woman in her 80s with head injuries. She later died from her wounds.

Her next of kin and the coroner have been informed. Officers say a man who was known to her has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody. A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward. One local business owner described the victim as an “absolutely lovely lady.”
