Stonewall: Government must not block trans law
Stonewall has attacked the UK Government for threatening to block Nicola Sturgeon’s gender reforms.
Any action from the Government to block controversial reforms to the gender recognition process in Scotland would be “disastrous” for the trans community, campaigners have said.
Colin Macfarlane, director of nations at the charity Stonewall, said such action would be “yet another example of hampering progress on LGBTQ+ rights”. He added that it would be “spiteful” if the Government refuses to recognise the gender recognition certificate which is now obtainable in Scotland without a medical diagnosis.
