Based upon Ben Macintyre’s book, John Madden’s drama takes place during the height of the Second World War as the Allies prepare to launch an all-out assault (Operation Husky) on Nazi-occupied Sicily. Colin Firth plays commander Ewen Montagu, while Matthew Macfadyen is brilliant, as ever, as the intelligence officer Charles Cholmondeley.
