Can tinned wine compete? The proof is in the drinking

-

The Uncommon Bubbly Rose 2020 England 11.5%, Waitrose, £4.99 for 25cl. Made from pinot noir grapes grown in Hampshire and Kent, this has the tart tang of ripe raspberries with a waft of cow parsley. Bubbles are added to the can to make it bright and breezy. Recommended. Atelier Mirabeau Pret-a-porter NV IGP Mediterranée, France 12.5%, Waitrose, £2.79, down from £3.49 for 25cl. Nice still pale rose from Maison Mirabeau, a Provence outfit set up by Stephen Cronk and his wife, Jeany – good for picnics. When in Rome Pecorino NV Italy 13%, Waitrose, £2.50 for 18.7cl. This white Italian grape makes a refreshing wine – a bit dusty but not bad. Has a good preserved lemon taste. Victoria Moore, Wine Editor
