Hancock brushes off rumour he was in Turkey for hair transplant
MATT HANCOCK has denied travelling to Turkey for a hair transplant and tooth veneers after being photographed at a clothes stall in Istanbul.
The former health secretary and runner-up in ITV’S I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here was quick to dispel the rumours on his Tiktok account after a clip was posted online that shows him browsing in a bazaar on Sunday.
One Tiktok user suggested he was “either there for a hair transplant or to get his teeth done”.
But in a light-hearted video response captioned “rather takes the veneer off the story”, he said: “I just got back to the office to find a journalist has called to ask if I went to Istanbul at the weekend to have hair transplants and veneers.”
He added: “This story has no teeth. It’s hair today and gone tomorrow.”
A source close to Mr Hancock confirmed he did go to Istanbul, but for a weekend of sightseeing and not for medical procedures.
After a shaky start, he managed to garner support and finish third on I’m a Celebrity after some contestants challenged him on his handling of the pandemic, leading to viewer complaints that he was being bullied. But he lost the Conservative Party whip in the process.
Since then he has tried to engage with a younger audience by urging supporters to follow him on Tiktok to keep up to date with what he is doing.
