Driverless car start-up raises expansion funds
Oxbotica, a UK driverless car start-up, has raised $140m (£115m) from investors as it eyes global expansion.
It means the Oxford-based company has now raised a total of £225m from investors, including grocery delivery company Ocado and Tencent, the world’s biggest video game company.
Oxbotica says the funding will drive its international expansion and accelerate the deployment of its autonomous operating systems in agriculture, transport and mining.
Gavin Jackson, chief executive, said: “This investment from world-class investors is a tremendous validation of our strategy to apply self-driving technology where there is urgent demand – in supply chains, industrial sectors and in decongesting our cities.”
